Android, a single operating system changed the way we interact with the mobile phones today. Thanks to the Google for keeping it free still. There are a various versions available with various functionality depending on how much bugs you spend to get your phone.
Ok now lets start with some basics. Android powered handsets are just like a desktop or a PC, where you will be having a ROM basically and a RAM for the temporary actions.
So to jailbreak your smartphone, you really need to do the following as necessary:
1. Forget your warranty claims after you accidentally damage your phone. Not physically anyway :P
(if not done properly, you may brick your phone for sure)
2. Do a full backup of all you contacts, messages, call logs too.
(Don't loose all as I LOST :P)
Now lets get to know something about ROOTING:
ROOTING IS LEGAL "Rooting is a process of unleashing the beast of android." - a very rubbish definition you usually get when you google it. But the truth is rooting refers to the process of just entering the admin mode of your phones internal memory. Root thus means just the internal memory with the file system where we can alter thing to get done a variety of things. Just like a sudo command in linux.
SUPER USER:
Super user may be referred as a administrator. A fresh opened phone is just a user whereas a rooted phone is a Super User. Normal work on such a system is done using ordinary user accounts, and because these do not have the ability to make system-wide changes any virus and other malware or simple user error - do not have the ability to adversely affect a whole system. So taking control of the super user, makes you manage the file system in fact. SU or # is used to refer super user.
Basic Necessity of Rooting:
1. Manufacturers usually stop your android update after some point of time. Rooting to is the only process to switch to newer life style.
2. You can be able to use a variety of apps that is Geek users.
3. Ability to use features not available in your stock OS.
Requirements to root your phone:
1. A PC running windows.
2. Your USB data cable
3. Your phone(for sure)
4. A program to root your device(google to find. i dont advertise, so name hidden)
5. A strong desire to dig your stock OS.
The simple steps to root your phone are as follows:
!!!Follow strictly!!!
1. After downloading that rooting program file to your PC, extract the content to a local folder.
2. Run the SOC.exe file (Oops i said a hint)
3. Plug in your phone to the PC via USB cable.
4. Click ROOT.
5. Wait for the process to finish.
6. Your done! You have a rooted device. Allow Busybox and su command.
Now we ll come to the real serious part of the article. Installing custom ROM is a real pain when its not done properly. Because i learnt those in the hard way. Thats why i thought of writing a article here to tell you fellas i really lost my phone OS and got that back.
There are so many custom ROMs available for android. I like to share the best 5 of all.
Ginger Villan ROM:
This is considered as the best ROM in the market today. This is mainly based on Android 2.3 codename Gingerbread. This is designed based on Android Open Source Project. This ROM is made by Richard trip that has also made previous ROMs as well. This ROM is mainly comes from Android alone and it has got an exceptions of Cyanogen Mod extras and also for of the apps. Some of the basic apps added in this ROM are Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Navigation, News and Weather and Google Voice. Apart from all these there are many more features that can be experienced once we use this ROM on our own.
Requirements to install custom ROM:
1. A PC probably running windows.
2. Data cable
3. A rooted device
4. xRecovery
5. Again a strong desire to dig your stock OS.
Getting and installing xRecovery:
One important and basic step in installing a custom ROM is installing xRecovery. It is a bridge between your old and the current OS and the custom ROM you are about to flash into your mobile. So setting up of a Recovery is essential.
!!!Caution: Follow without a slip!!!
1. Google and find : xRecover 1.0
(you should be having 3 files, a XXXXXX.tar file, two other files)
2. Now put those on your SD card under the name xRecovery.
3. Boot up your phone.
4. Using a file manager, Copy the contents of xRecovery to this location </system/bin>
5. If your device is rooted properly, you will see a request asking for super user permission.
6. Grant access and reboot the device.
7. Now when you see the logo, Press BACK key several times. This may vary from model to model as you may be required to press volume up or down key.
8. Now you will be taken to the recovery mode.
9. Use backup and recovery to take a back up of your stock OS. This is very essential as it will help you to get back when anything goes wrong.
10. It is advisable to have a copy of the backup in your system. This file can be seen in the folder xRecovery in your SD card.
Now you have the backup and its time to play with your phone's life :P
Assuming you have:
1. A custom ROM's zip file which you want to flash.
2. xRecovery setup and working like charm.
3. again a desire to dig your stock OS.
Steps to install custom ROM:
1. Just mount your SD card and copy paste the zip file you downloaded earlier.
2. unplug USB and reboot your phone to recovery mode.
3. Now select install custom ROM from SD card.
4. Select YES and wait till its done.
5. Hurray! Now you have a custom ROM running successfully.
6. Reboot your phone. Wait... as first time boot usually takes time.
Your now having a working Custom ROM.

ReDux ROM
This customized ROM is designed by keeping main three features in mind: Stability, Speed and Cleanliness. This ROM is thought to be for day-to-day usage. Every single feature implemented in this are very carefully selected and programmed accordingly. Users will surely get performance because smoothness and speed are the two main features that are required in our daily usage. ReDux is considered as bug free. It also provides good battery life and its UI is nicely working. They have added functionality like Camera options and new browser. This also uses ext. partition on your SD card that provides extra space utilization for apps.
Insert Coin ROM
Biggest part about this ROM is it had more than 200,000 downloads and still it is rising. Basic features provided with this ROM are improved bass effects. It has also added camera functionality with Panorama. It comes with modified browser having more tabs and all the settings are exposed. This has also got a feature that lets your CPU to run faster at very high frequency by preventing meltdown. They have also made some changes in GPU configuration.
MiUi-AU ROM
This is a Chinese ROM which is built from source code of Google. It has got similar look like iPhone. This is mainly translated in English and it is most suitable for any Android phone. Some features are MIUI-AU is: It is having updated A2SD+ with DalvikCache2SD. It provides customized memory optimizer. They have also tweaked it in such a way that it provides faster GPS access. FM radio provided in this ROM also works nicely like Sense ROMs. It has also got in-built backup software. User can also easily manage themes based on their requirements.
Starburst ROM
This is for those people who really love complete functional ROM on install. This is designed based on Sibere’s Data2SD scripts. This ROM has got Smartass, Performance and Power saving features. Some other basic features included with this ROM are Gmail, Google Maps, Google Voice, Facebook specially designed for Android, Unread message counter, SMS unread counter. It has also got built-in file explorer called File Expert which is having root explorer function. It is also having video capturing capability of 720p.
Before these, I suggest GingerDX, stable, somewhat a nice ROM we can use with.Requirements to install custom ROM:
